The OSP UV resistant jacket is designed to withstand sunlight, snow, and ice. Perfect for tight installation applications requiring thinner outdoor grade cable, such as exterior surveillance cameras. Indoor and outdoor rated for single and duplex dwelling residential environments per the NEC/NFPA 70. Outdoor rated for commercial environments. Not rated for direct burial.

Compatibility Counts

Compatibility tested and verified with our Cat5e Shielded Pass Through RJ45 Connectors. 24AWG solid conductors with an insulated conductor diameter of 0.97mm and an overall cable jacket diameter of 6.15mm fit most readily available Shielded Cat5e RJ45 connectors (always check compatibility!).

What is the main difference between this shielded Cat5e outdoor Ethernet cable and an unshielded one?

Unshielded cable lacks any additional shielding. Our Cat5e Outdoor Shielded Ethernet cable adds an overall foil shield (F/UTP) and ESD drain wire, which provides better protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and and RFI.

Is this cable suitable for direct burial or underground installation?

No, this cable is not rated for direct burial. This cable is designed for above ground outdoor installations only.

Can I use this Cat5e outdoor Ethernet cable indoors as well?

No. Our Cat5e outdoor shielded Ethernet cable is Unlisted, which means it has no fire safety rating. It is not suitable for indoor installation by Code. It may, however, be brought into a structure from outside up to 50 feet prior to termination or transition to an indoor fire rated cable type.

What is the maximum bandwidth and data transfer speed supported by this cable?

Our Cat5e shielded outdoor Ethernet cable has been quality tested (in laboratory conditions) to 350 MHz, ensuring stable ANSI/TIA required Cat5e 100 MHz operating bandwidth under all in-field conditions. Maximum application speed is 2.5 Gbps up to 328 feet.
